Evonik Supports Science Education At Osceola Schools

Grant From Global Innovation Leader Marks Company's New Corporate Identity

OSCEOLA, Ark., December 4, 2007 – Evonik Industries, whose chemical operations were formerly known as Degussa, today presented the Osceola School District with a $500 community grant to support the District's science education programs.

Peter Marks, Evonik’s CYRO Industries’ site manager, said the company made the donation to introduce its new identity and to reemphasize its deep commitment to science education. “By supporting our educational institutions,” Marks said, “we are investing in the development of new scientific discoveries, future research and development researchers, and global economic advancement.”

Milton Washington, superintendent for the Osceola School District, said the District “greatly appreciates the generous donation and support of our schools by Evonik.”

Washington added: “Evonik has supported our school district in numerous projects over the years and it is support like this that helps our students achieve a higher standard of education. Evonik’s support is truly an asset to our schools, students, and community.”

The $500 grant is Evonik’s way of celebrating with its neighbors in Osceola but is also a continuation of the company-wide commitment to science education, said Marks. “Learning about the wonders of science can serve as a great inspiration for students, who may go on to be the chemists, researchers, or engineers of tomorrow,” he added.
