Supports Science Education At Magnolia Junior High School
Grant From Global Innovation Leader Marks Company's New Corporate Identity
MAGNOLIA, Ark., December 4, 2007 – Evonik Industries and its subsidiary, Evonik Foams, today presented the Magnolia Junior High School with a $500 community grant to support the school's science education programs.
Dan Sutton, Evonik Foams site manager, said the company made the donation to introduce its new identity. Evonik Foams, Inc. was formerly Inspec Foams, Inc.
"We're proud of what we do here in Magnolia and we are proud of our industry," Sutton said. "Chemistry is a cornerstone of our society. Without it, many of the products, conveniences and medicines to which we've become accustomed would not exist."
Chris Hurley, Principal at Magnolia Junior High School, praised Evonik Industries and Evonik Foams’ generous gift, adding that it will be put to immediate use.
“We’re very happy to receive this donation and we will use it to help our students with the upcoming science fair,” said Hurley. “It’s a big benefit for us and will take some of the financial burden off the students.”
The $500 grant is Evonik’s way of celebrating with its neighbors in Magnolia but is also a continuation of the company-wide commitment to science education, said Sutton. “Learning about the wonders of science can serve as a great inspiration for students, who may go on to be the chemists, researchers, or engineers of tomorrow,” he added. Evonik Foams employees have a deep commitment to science education. “By supporting our educational institutions,” Sutton said, “we are investing in the development of new scientific discoveries, future research and development researchers, and global economic advancement.”
